- ABOUT: I was sent to boarding school at the age of 10. One of my fondest memories from my stint in boarding school was the singing of hymns every morning during assembly. Hymns would always bring a sense of peace to me that no other genre of music does.
My father grew up Methodist, but we grew up Pentecostal. He found his way back to Methodism which means when I attend a Methodist church with him when back home.
One of the big differences between Methodist and Pentecostal Christianity is the singing of hymns during service. During service, I noticed that among the choir was a little boy, who was likely around the same age I was when I left for boarding school, and I felt as though I was watching myself sing from an updated and outside perspective. Quite a peculiar experience.
