- ABOUT: The term “Aboki” is a Hausa word used to describe northern Nigerians present in other parts of Nigeria. It translates literally to “my friend” which I find quite telling.

Typically the people who make and serve Suya (a special style of grilled meat) are “Abokis”, and I believe they really are friends of the community.

Always there after a long day, never ill or out of service, consistently providing a listening ear, never judging but most importantly, serving arguably the best street food you’ll ever taste. If you have never had suya, I believe you haven’t fully lived.

I hope we all have someone in our lives we can go to just like I can always count on “my friend” to make my day better through food.

*P.S. Best enjoyed at night*
